Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) as a GH secretagogue in rat and human pituitary tumoral cells.

چکیده
CALCITONIN gene-related peptide (CGRP), a 37amino-acid neuropeptide identified as a potent vasodilator [1], is widely distributed in the central nervous system. The presence of CGRP and its binding sites has been found in the pituitary [2-4], but its role in regulating pituitary function remains to be determined. In the present study, we investigated the effect of CGRP on the secretion of GH in vitro by using rat pituitary tumoral cells (GH3 cells) and human pituitary adenoma cells. 0.1% bovine serum albumin for 4 h. The medium was collected and stored at 20 °C until assayed. The concentrations of rat and human GH were measured by specific radioimmunoassay provided by NIDDK and with an immunoradiometric assay kit provided by Daiichi RI Lab, respectively. The results were expressed as the mean ± SEM.

The effect of 17β-estradiol on gene expression of calcitonin gene-related peptide and some pro-inflammatory mediators in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with pure menstrual migraine
Objective(s):The neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) has long been postulated to play an integral role in the pathophysiology of migraine. Earlier studies showed that CGRP can stimulate the synthesis and release of nitric oxide (NO) and cytokines from trigeminal ganglion glial cells. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 17β-estradiol in regulation of CGRP exp...

Objective(s) Recent studies on human indicate that the introduction of therapeutic use of tolerogenic dendritic cell (DC) for chronic inflammatory conditions is imminent. For the purpose of defining CGRP potency in tolerogenic DC production, we investigated the phenotype and IL-'2 production of DCs generated from the monocytes of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in the presence of the calcit...
متن کاملThe effect of hypothyroidism on the trigeminal calcitonin gene-related peptide containing motoneurons: an immunohisto-chemical study in late neonatal life
CGRP, which coexists with acetylcholine in trigeminal motoneurons, could be one of the regulatory anterograde factors responsible for the enhanced expression of AChR subunits in neuromuscular junction. It has been also shown that low level of thyroid hormone plasma concentration has influence on the transitional development of muscle fibers and related motoneurons through a sever reduction in A...

متن کاملEffect of Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells Transplantation on Nerve Fibers of A Rat Model of Endometriosis
Background Endometriosis is a common, benign, oestrogen-dependent, chronic gynaecological disorder associated with pelvic pain and infertility. Some researchers have identified nerve fibers in endometriotic lesions in women with endometriosis. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have attracted interest for their possible use for both cell and gene therapies because of their capacity for self-renewal ...
